Hello everyone.
I'm new here. Trying to find some advice or even support. I am currently 16 weeks pregnant with my second baby. My first child was born premature at 31 weeks. My water broke at 30 weeks.
After being evaluated by a high risk doctor at 14 weeks (with this pregnancy), I found out my fluid levels are very low. Only a 2. We are not sure what is causing the problem. No leaking, so we are thinking kidney function. I go back in two weeks for an ultrasound to see if we can see the kidneys. If not, I will be sent out for a fetal MRI.
I am not handling this very well. It took us 7 months to conceive with this baby, and with all the problems my son had, I am not sure I can try again, if this pregnancy doesn't work. I am scared what will happen to the baby if it developed with barely any fluid. I am sacred they will find no kidney function and we will have to terminate. Looks like, if this baby does have a fighting chance, it will be another NICU baby.

Thank you for listening.

Update: Saw my regular OB and the fluid level was up to a 3. Some good news. Saw baby sucking and swallowing. Saw kidneys but unsure about function. Unsure about bladder. High risk doc on Friday.

I really hope you get good news at your next appointment. Maybe the baby was just slow to catch on. I know from experience that its hard to not worry about having another baby in the NICU, but try to not focus on that. I will keep you in my prayers. Please update us after your apointment.

Thank you for your reply. At this point I am just hoping for a healthy baby, early or not.

Bad news today. The babies kidneys are covered in cysts and the fluid level was 0. We have to terminate. I am both scared and extremely sad. Has anyone had to terminate for medical reasons before?

I have no experience either, but just want to tell you how sorry I am. I have had losses and they are so hard, but I can't imagine what you're going through. My thoughts are with you, and I hope for peace and comfort for you and your family.

It is an extremely difficult thing to go through. I'm sending you all the prayers I can.

I'm so sorry.

I am so sorry. I have had losses, but not for your reason. I will be praying for you and your family during this difficult time.
