Here in the UK 3.4 is higher end of normal.. I have 3.5.

I had to have a emergency scan due to bleeding and while they were there they noticed the thickened NT.. I never asked for a photo because she said this is not your NT scan but we will measure it while we are here..... My NT was supposed to be Tues. Anyway. I am sad I do not have a photo of my belly bean.

Right I was 12w3d at the scan.. I thought I was 11w6d.

My NT was 3.5mm.. which is 1mm over the normal risk.. she even said if it was 1mm lower you would not be in here with me (Genetic specialist person)...

But she did say the fluid goes all the way down the back which signals a 1:2 chance of something wrong with the heart.

I have been told I am high risk of losing the baby in utero due to if the fluid builds up possibly thickening and crushing the organs as the fluid pools around the skin around the abdomen area.
I asked her what my chances are that the baby will be ok and she said she has seen worse with septations and your baby has no current septations. She said she wants me to do a cvs but we need the triple screening bloods to come back but combined they will be high risk for DS definitely.

She said we need to know if the baby has DS, if it does then the chances of losing the baby in utero are higher especially with the heart problem and if the baby does not have DS or other syndromes then there is a better chance of it surviving to term.

I have been through so much in 7 years to actually get this far in pregnancy.. i feel like its all being taken away little by little.

I had my scan Wed, its now Sunday and I have been told if I dont have results call by Noon Tues to call them.. thats another 2 days of limbo.

So my local fetal medicine hospital have these stats.

1:100 loss for amnio
1:50 loss for CVS

So if my bloods come back low risk I will not be having CVS and waiting for amnio just to rule it out and carry on in pregnancy as normal with alot of scans etc etc.

If the bloods alone come back high and the combined risk is higher than 1:50 then I will have CVS. If the combined odds come back lower than 1:50 then I will be leaving it.

Thats all I can think of doing. I am scared. This is my last pregnancy due to all we have been through and also age 33 at delivery and 49 at delivery.

Can you have that new blood test that will show DS and other chromosomal issues?
Maternit21 test I think it's called.

I don't think it will ever make it to the NHS over here in the UK. I also don't think it is even over here yet.

I did look as soon as I saw the odds for CVS and Amnio.

I was going to suggest the MaterniT21 as well. I had it drawn on January 3rd.

Well I have JUST been called with the bloods and the combined NT results..... LOW RISK BLOODS AND COMBINED LOW RISK. She said she was sure due to the extended NT that the bloods would come back high risk.. she said that with me being low risk for chromosomal the risks with the heart have also been lowered. She has given me the all clear to announce and the fetal health unit will want me in for a scan to look at the heart in a couple of weeks and keep a close eye on me. She said there could still be a major problem with the heart but removing a syndrome from the factor lowers the risks to probably operable.
