I am currently 20 weeks pregnant with a precious baby girl. I go in for cervical measurements every two weeks due to a loss of twins at 23 weeks 2 years ago. So far my cervix has been measuring fine. Today, it measured about 3.5 without pressure, and 3.2 with pressure. The tech said this is normal. I asked if the cervix normally changes a little with pressure, and he said of course. He said it doesn't usually stay completely the same with pressure because there IS pressure. It's bound to change a little bit. He told me the big thing is to watch if there is any funneling, or if it significantly changes under pressure. He said my cervix shortens a tiny bit, but that it is normal. Is this true? Just want to makes sure since I'm paranoid due to a previous loss. The cervix is bound to change a tiny bit with pressure, correct? It shouldn't be exactly the same? Thank you!

I am so sorry for the loss of your babies.

Yes, that sounds exactly correct. It will always be a bit shorter with pressure, but the lack of funneling is great news. Glad they are watching you closely and I hope your cervix stays long and strong for your little girl!

I have no idea if it's 'normal' or not. But your doctor should go over any testing you have done with you, so hopefully at your next appointment he/she will. Just wanted to say congrats.
