Hi there! I'm 31 weeks pregnant... last saturday I went to the hospital for menstrual like cramps and learned that I was having contractions that were 2min apart and dilated to 2. They gave me 2 terbutaline shots and then when my contractions were 35 min apart they let me go home. I went to my dr on Monday morning. She perscribed Procardia and told me to take it only if my contractions were coming more than 4 times per hour. Well, I got home and researched the medication and the things I learned scared me. I am trying to go without taking the medication by drinking extra water and eating more protein and not doing a lot of activity. My contractions are not coming more than 4 times an hour very often.... but I am wondering if I should take the medication? Has anyone here taken procardia? Not sure if the damage to my baby from being born too early is worse than the damage that could be caused from taking the medication.... Any advice is helpful.
Hello! I just read your post about taking Procardia and I wanted to tell you that I took it for almost my entire pregnancy!! I had elevated BP and I was also at risk for preterm labor. I had no side effects or complications from the Procardia whatsoever. I delivered a beautiful healthy baby boy on December 19th and I went full-term. I hope this helps you out!!
