Hi ladies,

I'm on twice daily shots of Heparin (4 weeks and counting) and I feel a lot of burning and soreness in my stomach. Have any of you felt that?

I did figure out the best way to give myself a shot, though! You have to stick yourself fast like you're throwing a dart. It hurts SO much less and I'm bruising less too.

I have a history of gastrointestinal issues, so I'm not sure if some of my symptoms are related to Heparin or gastritis or a combo of both. But I've had tons of painful gas and bloating, tenderness in my stomach, sometimes brief stabbing pains at injection sites. I've had some spotting too.

Been checked out and so far the baby is fine, so I think whatever it is is affecting me and not the baby.

Would like to know what side effects you are having or have had on Heparin.

Thanks,
Susan

Well, heparin was not pleasant. I hated having to do shots twice daily, and by the third trimester I was up to 4 shots daily. The bruising and tenderness was only alleviated by moving into maternity pants early on in pregnancy. I've found that lovenox causes a lot less tenderness and bruising, even though it burns while using it. If your insurance covers the lovenox, I would ask to be switched!

Just curious here.

Do you have a medical alert bracelet or pendant saying your taking that stuff? Its kinda important.

I have ordered one. In the meantime, I have a medical alert card. I also bought a medical alert flash drive that will have all my medical info in it. Very cool.
