Hi! My doctor has labeled my pregnancy high risk because I got unexpectedly pregnant at 7.5 months post op after gastric bypass surgery. Doctors reccomend not getting pregnant till at least 18 months post-op. The main concerns are if I will gain weight and how my nutrient levels are. So far in my pregnancy (I'm 13 weeks) I've lost 6 pounds but my labs of my nutrients all are looking great. Overall since my surgery I've lost 123 pounds and feel great! I defintely feel like I will have a healthier pregnancy now than at my old weight. I was just wondernig if there was any other post-ops and how you are doing?

you lost 123 pounds after only 7 months??!!... wow.. good for you..

I have no idea on this one.. you might talk to one of the girls in the october DDC board ( I had her name posted here but I am going to see if it really was her first). She had something similar.. I think it was a ring or something put on her stomach... and she is getting ready to have a baby any day now! I think it was her.. That would be really emberassing if I was wrong. I better go back and see if I can find the post first.. LOL......

I haven't had it, but a friend of mine had her surgery and then unexpectantly got pg 3 months later. They had told her not to get pg for 1 year. They watched her carefully to make sure she was getting the right nutrients for the baby and her, I believe they did us's to make sure the baby was growing good. She delivered a healthy baby boy. I don't think she gained during the pregnancy, but she didn't lose alot either.

I don't have any experience in this area, but like Natural Blessings said, I'm sure as long as you have a good doctor who makes sure your baby gets all the nutrients he/she needs, you will have a healthy & happy pregnancy and baby! Good luck!

I am almost three years post op and expecting in December. I have lost a total of 160 pounds. Other than having to take extra vitamins during the pregnancy everything has been fine. I was told to wait at least one year.
