After 3 weeks at home, I am back in the hospital. I spent Christmas day in the ER (8 hrs) and then was admitted for a uterine infection. They have had to change the antibiotics I was on and I'm now on 2 different IV antibiotics, one of which i had a bad reaction to so they are watching me closely. Not sure how long I'll be here.

My little 25 weeker isn't doing to hot either. She was already fighting an infection as well as trying to heal a bilateral grade 3 brain bleed but on Christmas eve they had to reintubate her. She has been on an oscillator since then. Today when I went to see her, they informed me she has yet another infection where they are having to suction her lungs out every 15 minutes so she can breath. She has a private nurse who sits by her side constantly. She is on 4 different antibiotics now. Hopefully this will be it and she will start getting better now.

It seems I have tons of time now so I thought I would at least let everyone know what is going on. Take care all

I forget boo. How early where all the others? Did you go through these ups and downs with the others?

Also, you know you have to take care of you too. Saddly nobody else will. And you need to be strong not onl for Ivee but for the others.
That is alot on your plate. I think of you ever day.Just thought I would mention that.

Thanks Mel,
My others were 35, 29, 31, 32 and 28 weeks. They had no real problems, just breathing, eating and growing. Very few ups and downs. Ivee is making up for all the others.

I'm just tired of being in the hospital. I thought this was done with after I had Ivee. Turns out, I have a very rare, extremely dangerous type of infection. They are being overly aggressive so even with the bad reaction to the antibiotics, I have to stay on them. Won't be going home anytime soon.

I'm of to see Ivee yet again and see if anything has changed. I'm hoping for a big improvement but I'll take any improvement no matter how small.

Its amazing you got off lucky with your 28 weeker. What medicine can't do these days.

You need hope and pray that even tho Ivee is giving you a runfor your money, she will be ok.

Yep, I know. We lucked out with all of them. She even came home at 34 weeks. After her though, we were done. Now I remember why we made that decision. I guess God just decided he knew better than us. I'm hoping it is because I can handle it. I know Ivee is here for a reason. I just believe we have the worst luck possible. They are now saying I have an extremely rare and extremely dangerous bacteria causing the infection. I have no idea how long I'll be here now.

Hey Boo... Sorry to hear you have taken such a scary and yucky turn and are back in the hospital... I know Ivee has been having some setbacks as well, and continue to hold her in my T&P's. Please take it easy and keep us posted!

I'm new to this board but have been following your story & wanted to let you know that both of you are in my prayers. I can't imagine how difficult it is to not be well AND have your child in the NICU.

No. It's group A strep. It's really common for things like strep throat or impetigo but it is extremely rare for it to cause a uterine infection. It's so rare that they had to contact the center for disease control to find out when I can go home, ha ha ha!
Still waiting. More cultures, more antibiotics. Still keeping my fingers crossed for this weekend.
