I'm carrying a lot of extra weight. My youngest is 3 1/2, so it's time for me to lose the baby fat.

The thing is that I lost weight before and know how to do it. The problem is that the circumstances must be right in order for me to do it. I need 1 hour to myself for exercise. I need a healthy refrigerator. Well, I have no 'me' time and dh keeps bringing home junk for the kids which I sometimes eat.

To top things off, there a few personal matters that cause stress (not to mention the usual stressful kid stuff). I truely believe that stress DOES prevent you from losing weight - even makes you gain more weight.

Oh yes, you are right about "stress" being a factor with unwanted weight gain!
I wish you luck...I need some myself. I need to get motivated with working out again. I was doing good for awhile but, slowed way down with it. And started eatting more junk food.{chocolate} Maybe we can help motivate each other...

stress is a factor. So are happy pills. I was thinking of joining curves for a month or two and see where that takes me.

Hi ladies, I am new here and I don't want to butt in , but I have been where you all have been and at times I still eat when I am stressed. I don't go to a gym, I started out walking in my neighbor hood. I really packed on the pounds until my hubby and I moved our family. Over 100 lbs more than when I got married. Depressing. Once I just started walking whether it was 10 minnutes or 15 minutes I just got moving. I have am now running. But that has taken couple of years to get here. Just walk, drink 1/2 your body weight in water everyday, and don't beat your self up for splurging on junk food. I do it and right now chocolate and I are great friends. It all comes down to moderation! I hope this has helped and I hope I haven't butted in!

Mamak, you're right about keeping on the move. It does help. I need to find the energy to do it. Lately, instead of walking here and there around the house, I'm jogging/dancing here and there. Still, I lost a ton of weight before, but that was before I had kids and had the time and energy to do exercise. The older one goes to school in Sept. Maybe then I can do what I have to.

I DO feel so very much better mentally when I do get the chance to exercise.

I think it sounds like a good idea, Tammy. Will you start the thread?
