I have been using a powdered laundry detergent...

1 finely grated bar of ivory soap
1/2 cup of Super Washing Soda (from Arm & Hammer)
1/2 cup Borax

** Freeze the bar of ivory soap first, it grates easier this way**

Combine the 3 ingredients in a container with air tight lid.
Use 1-2 tbsp per large wash load.

**This detergent DOES NOT suds up like a regular store bought detergent. There are very few bubbles if any at all.

I make my own detergent and I use the same ingredients as about but WAY different amounts.
approximately 1.5 cups borax
1.5 cups washing or baking soda
1/2 cup grated soap

So one bar of soap makes a huge amount of detergent. I only make it about every 6 months!
