Omg the past week i have been dying with heartburn! antacids arent really doing much. Yesterday i had so much i was actually spitting the acid out!

any handy hints for me ladies? Meds are not an option, they dont give them to pregnant women here. I know some women in my ddc got them which just makes me jealous!

I only had heartburn with my first pregnancy (so far!) and the only thing that would work was drinking milk, slowly. Since it helps neutralize the acids in your stomach it was the fastest and safest way that I knew and it worked great. I know a few of my sisters swore by crackers and Tums lol But, crackers make me ill as it is and I try not taking anything if I can help it.. I hope you find something that helps!! I know it's no fun

Robyn, can you see if a drug store there carries papaya enzyme? I got it near the vitamins. I hate the taste of antacids, so I use those.

I will try the milk tasia, thanks! i rang my mom for a moan about it yesterday and she suggested milk with peppermint cordial in it () but she swears it works. Gonna try sipping it slowly first tho!

Genevieve, thanks for that tip! doesnt papaya help start labour tho? I know its ok in mid pregnancy, but as i'm getting close to the end... I might be terribly wrong on that, gonna google it out of curiosity! dont know where i heard it!

I know that unripe papaya is dangerous due to a chemical in the latex. I never had to take it in the 3rd trimester with Emily, but the midwife at my OB suggested it for both pregnancies and never put any limitations on when I could or couldn't take it. I really hope you get some relief soon. That's the worst!

I had heartburn really bad with both my pregnancies Robyn, I had to take a special med for it. Darn thing tasted aweful, but it worked! I really don't have any advice, but I can definitely relate to this feeling.
