I've never gone into labour by myself. I was induced with jake, and up until the gel went in, i felt totally normal. His head never engaged and basically my body did no prep for labour until i got the gel, which resulted in a 17 hour long labour. boo.

But the past two days i've felt so different. I cant really put my finger on it, but physically i've been getting period like pains that come and go, my lower back is killing me, but that comes and goes too. I havent noticed any pattern to it tho. I do know that baby is almost fully engaged. had an u/s on monday and the doc couldnt get a proper head measurement cos the head was too low down.
I dont want to leave the house and i'm afraid being by myself. Havent really nested, but keep checking my bags to make sure i have everything.

Does this sound normal for the last few days of pregnancy? Does it sound like i'm getting ready for labour? Or am i just being a whinger?!

That is exactly how I felt with Cole! I was also induced with Mehkaelie (something I hope to never have to go through again!!) and had absolutely no signs of labor with her .. but with Cole - the first few days leading up to my water breaking at home, I was having period type crampy pains that weren't so strong I would double over or anything but when they'd start I'd kinda freeze in place for a second! My back was also feeling a lot more pressure as well but I can't honestly remember if I was having any sort of cramping in my lower back but I remember feeling like everything was resting on my tailbone and it hurt!

Robyn, I wish I could weigh in, but having been induced and then Em delivered by c-section, I have no clue. I'm sure everything will be timed perfectly and it'll go great! Sending you some calming vibes!

Sounds like pre-labor to me! Did they "check" you at your last appointment to see if you were dilated? Will they at your next? When is that?

They dont check at our appointments! The closest they get is a membrane sweep at 40 weeks. had an appointment on monday and have another on monday, but they wont check.

I'm feeling way better today tho, so i think it was just a fluke. I was really after convincing myself i was on the way!

i really dont know since i never have gone into labor on my own...but hugs and i hope that your little one gets here soon and that its a fast easy labor for you!

Ewww, I hope that's not a sign of back labor for you!! Back labor is terrible...worse than your uterus contracting, in my opinion!! Sounds like you could be getting close

i agree, back labor is HE..LL! I had it bad with Raleigh after they started my induction..it was so bad i couldnt even feel the contractions because all i could feel was my back pain.

Also agreed. I had back labor with Mehkaelie and thought I was going to absolutely split in half. Ick!
