If you buy online from something like craigslist and it says oh i dont know 20 dollars OBO (or best offer) What do you think that means?

I am just wondering because everytime i post something like that i basically mean...im selling it because i want it out of my house so whatever you offer up to said price ill take. Ive emailed 2 people on craigslist for something now and asked if they would take a little bit lower then what it says and they both said no they want the price its posted for. ok..so what else does OBO mean? Is it supposed to be like a bid and whoever offers up the most they will take?? If thats the case whats the money amount posted for??

For me I would look at it and decide if I think it is actually worth the $20. If it's not I would offer what I think is fair.

I think if you offer a lower price sometimes they wait to see if they get a better offer and if they don't then they'll take you offer.

I agree. OBO, or best offer. I am getting ready to sell DHs car and it will be 1,200 OBO. We will take the highest amount we can get for it. If someone offers 1K, may sell it to them, maybe not.

A lot of people post OBO just because it will bring more people in than a firm price. It's wrong but it happens.

Most of the time from what I have experienced, OBO DOES mean or best offer but that just pulls in more people to call and possibly buy the item. Like if someone calls and says "Ill pay $15" and the item is $20 the seller might talk the buyer into paying $20.
