Emily has taken her sweet time getting interested in walking. We were told at her last appointment that if she wasn't walking by 18 months, they'd want to send her for developmental testing. I hate looming deadlines that are out of my control. Then, I made the mistake of reading a blog about a child that started walking at Ems age and then regressed and the family found out she had some real muscle and bone development issues and started to freak out.
When we made a big deal about Emily standing up without holding on to anything or encouraged her to walk, she'd sit down. Right before our trip to Florida for my 10 year reunion last week, I was packing and looked up and there she was taking some cautious steps across the room. She does best when no ones paying attention.
She's still not walking on a regular basis since crawling is still faster and more stable, but she loves to stand up and walk in circles now with sound effects. She walks around going "beh beh beh beh". So AWESOME! If I can get Jeff to get the pictures and video off the camera, I'll post it for you.
Go Emily!!
