by Dr. Laura Schlessenger. Has anyone read it? What did you think?

I got the audio book from the library when Avery was small and listened to it when I nursed. I thought she made a lot of good points, I just have trouble following her ideas. The old me always wins out.

I haven't read the book and I don't know anything about the writer, but the title makes me a little sick. My husband is not a pet.

I take care of my hubby and he takes care of me, but most books on relationships make me want to vomit...

Heard of it, listened to her show on the radio occasionally.
Didnt really agree with most of what she had to say so I never bothered reading the book but know a couple ladies who did who found some use from its words.

The basic premise of the book is about how women have the mindset "If I'm not happy, no one is happy". It's kind of about letting go and trying to be more selfless, and going back to the beginning of your relationship. Putting on a little perfume... maybe wearing something sexy, and actually being sweet to your husband. That a man who feels loved will give back to his family 100 fold. I think what she had to say made a lot of sense, despite being a little bit old fashioned.

I agree that the title is bad, but it is part of a whole series of books- the proper care and feeding of marriage, wives, etc.

i think they could rename this book to something else....cause the title of it alone would put me off to it....

I've never heard of the book, but I am somewhat familiar with Dr. Laura... and she's far too conservative and preachy for my taste.

I havent read the book, but from what i have heard about it I got the impression that the title was supposed to be a little tongue in cheek, being that the premise of the book is how the women hold the power in the relationship etc.

I read a short synopsis of her ideals and tbh there wasnt much i disagreed with, but i do see how it might not translate to all marriages.

I'm not a huge fan of Dr. Laura. I have a hard time with people who act like they have the answers to everything. They drive me nuts.

I have not read the book, but I used to listen to her talk show a little. I thought she had some great points, actually.

And while, no, I don't consider my husband a pet, but men can act a bit like a spoiled puppy and get bored if not 'tended' too.

Yes!!! It is so true actually. So much about our relationship depends on how I am acting towards my husband. If I am mad about something or b*chy, things are rough. If I try to see light in things and kiss him goodbye in the morning, call him sweetheart or honey or whatever, there is so much more harmony.

I think a lot of it was about how men are reactive in the realtionship and rarely actually set the tone themselves.

I haven't read the book... I've heard of Dr. Laura, from what I gather, she much reminds me of Dr. Phil. I'm glad others find use in her books however. =)

Oh wow, that is sooooo true with my husband. It annoys me sometimes and I have even mentioned it to him! Like geez, just because I'm PMSing, does that mean everybody has to PMS as well? That's a lot of pressure on me... lol

It is hilarious-- when I ask him how his day went, his answer totally depends on if he thinks I'm in a good mood or not-- he will say "eh... long and boring" if he sees I'm in a bad mood, and "pretty good" if I am chill. So it's not just my hub then, hmmmm.
