I *try* to be green. I would LOVE to have my own greenhouse one day. That is my dream. I plan to do that once DH and I purchase our home. I don't leave lights on, or water. (like when I brush my teeth) We reuse bags, like for our bathroom trash. We reuse plastic containers, like what cold cuts come in. We walk everywhere. Instead of using paper towels to dry my hands I have many hand towels that I rewash. Maybe that uses too much water? Um, I think that is it.

I try..We use cloth rags in the kitchen instead of paper towels etc. I use reusable grocery bags, try to plan trips for one day instead of going back and forth all the time. Nothing big, just small things like that.

We do small things. I use reusable bags. We use a lot of cloth rags too. I try to make sure that all of the lights are out in the house until the sun goes down....unless it's extremely cloudy...gotta have some light. I try to recycle paper when I think about it at the school.

The "green" things we do:

Plant a garden
all food scraps/leftovers are either composted or, if it's applicable, fed to livestock that can eat it (depending on what the scraps are).
We use animal poo from our livestock as fertilizer and mix it with our compost.
I make my own laundry soap.
We recycle aluminum and plastics.
We burn all papers (kept and used as fire starter in our wood burner).
We heat with wood (and glean our wood from fallen trees, tree tops from logging jobs, etc).
We plant trees every spring and fall.
We use an Artificial Christmas tree (and before anyone says this isn't green, we've had the same tree for the entirety of our marriage 16 years).
We re-use re-use and re-use until something can't be used once more.
I use (at home) wash cloths for diaper changes instead of disposable wipes.
Old, worn out clothes are cut into cleaning rags and/or quilt squares.
We make our trips into town count.
We do not use paper towels or paper napkins.
We collect rain water to water our animals.
We have built most of our animal pens out of recycled lumber.

I'm sure there's more but I'm distracted by my mom calling. LOL

We have had gardens.
We have 2 garbage cans in our kitchen and outside...1 recycling and 1 regular.
We reuse grocery bags.
I am the light nazi...constantly turning off lights that don't need to be on.
I try to conserve water...dont leave it running while I am brushing my teeth, loading the dishwasher, or shaving my legs in the shower.
I dont do partial loads of laundry.

Pretty much only thing we do right now is recycle and use reusable grocerys bags. Also plan trips since we live so far from everything so we make a day out of it or at least a couple trips.

Recycle as much as possible, use re-usable containers for lunches, I try not to throw things away that could be re-used by someone, try to conserve energy as much as possible in our house by doing things like turning off lights and appliances that aren't needed at the time.
