so supposedly we are supposed to be getting this giant snow storm....they cannot decide how much we are gonna get anywhere from 6-14 inches....every single school is closed...except my kids school LOL....the snow is supposed to start around 10am an basically not stop all day/night....with heaving snow supposedly starting around 2...with high winds all day....so yeah the school wants to close at 1....leaving all the kids to be on the buses....ummm no....I am keeping my kids home....who knows how bad its gonna get and our bus drives on dirt roads...so not happening LOL.....
When I was in school, about halfway through (maybe 6th or 7th grade?) we got a new superintendent. He was from Minnesota or some other place that snows like crazy, so he almost NEVER closed our school when every other one was closed. We walked to school and the road and sidewalk was covered in ice, so we just stayed home. (I grew up in NY, this was clearly NOT in AZ lol)
We were supposed to get many inches of snow last night. Our superintendent called school off last night for today at about 6:00pm. He canceled it early so working parents could make arrangements as needed. We got maybe 2 inches instead of the 6 to 8 we were supposed to get. A lot of people are angry that they canceled school. I think it is wonderful. We are allowed 3 snow days a season. We rarely use them. This year we used one for a one day strike and now one for a snow day.
Personally, I think it is wonderful.. a day away from the germy petrie dish they call school!! I am going to enjoy an extra day with my kids.
We had a snow storm weds night into thurs morning. This school NEVER closes, like ever, so when I woke up in the morning, saw the roads still werent plowed and the car covered, I opted to keep my kids home too. Why risk going out in it when the kids are in first grade? Half of the other kids probably wont be there, so they really wont miss much other than some play time and crafts. (It was also bc I was lazy and didnt want to go out in the 8 degree weather to shovel and clean off the car but shh! Nobody needs to know that)
