I never, ever thought I would nurse one of my children for over a year, but now my daughter is now 18 months and still nursing.. and I love it! She gets such a boost to her immune system. Even when the whole house is sick, she avoids it thanks to breast milk.

aw, it's nice to read tha. my 38-month-old girl still nurses here and there- whenever she wants. i get a LOT of crap for it, i won't lie. but i can't say i've ever met another 3-year-old who tries to be so independent.

I loved the article....the only change I would suggest is that there are momma like myself that aren't (and never have been) particularly "enjoying" nursing, but do so for the health benefits!

I enjoyed nursing my son. Unfortunately he self weaned at 7.5 months and at 9 months my milk dried up even with pumping. I would have loved to breastfeed past a yr but we had issues from the beginning so I am very glad i got the 7.5 months I did with him.
