IUI, or intrauterine insemination, is a procedure done in a doctor's office that places sperm directly into a woman's uterus to aid in conception. During normal intercourse, only a small percentage of a man's sperm will make it past the woman's cervix and enter the uterus to fertilize the woman's egg. Most of the sperm that is ejaculated during intercourse remains in the vagina.
I found this info very helpful as it is something that we might be trying in the next two cycles of we get another BFN. My only reason for not giving it 5* is I would love to know the price in Euro as I'm not sure how much it is to have done in Ireland. Is it the same as the US or is it more expensive. But other then that it was very helpful. Thank you.
My doctor told me that doing an IUI with unwashed sperm only causes mild cramping and is not a big deal. She recommended that I do it for a better chance of conception. Has anyone tried an IUI with unwashed sperm before?

That was a great article! We've just been told be out RE that we will being trying IUI, and I really didn't understand what it was. After reading your article, and another one at http://ivf-info.org/what-is-iui that i'd found, it has helped a huge amount. Although I don't quite understand the difference to "inject" IUI yet, just more reading though I expect.
