You’ve just had a miscarriage. To make things even more tragic you may not have even been aware you were pregnant in the first place. Your doctor will explain your miscarriage as a ‘chemical pregnancy’. But what does that even mean? It sounds like something out of sci-fi television.

Im 4 weeks and 6 days pregnant, had a pregnancy test three days ago which turned out positive. Previously, i had been feeling pregnancy sysmptoms like fatigue, nausea etc but on saturday after having sex with my husband i noticed some light spotting which went on for a few hours and then stopped. However when i woke up on sunday, i didnt feel any of the pregnancy symptoms and i dont feel them now although im not spotting any more. I have a scheduled appointment with my GP on thursday, could this be a sign of a missed miscarriage? Im so desperate for this baby!! please help.

I would say that light spotting isn't necessarily a sign of miscarriage especially after sex. And it's also quite normal for the classic pregnancy symptoms to come and go early in your pregnancy (and really throughout). There were days that I felt fantastic and even almost forgot I was pregnant and then there were days where I couldn't venture out of the house for fear of my recurring morning sickness. It would be best to wait until you speak with your doctor and have a blood test done to check your levels. I know it's easier said than done but try not to stress over it until after you've had a chat. Good luck on Thursday!
