I find that incredibly judgmental... IMO, make your own choices you're comfortable with personally, but don't air them so publicly. That is potentially hurtful to so many who also "believe in God" but made the painful and necessary choice to move forward with IVF.

I think it was certainly not tactful to compare IVF with 'messing with' God and faith.

This is what I thought as well. And if it wasn't IVF, it was certainly some other form of assisted reproductive therapy!

I find her comments to be quite ridiculous and unfortunate, particular since it adds more stigmas to treating fertility issues. Fertility issues are a medical issue. No different that heart disease, cancer, diabetes, etc... These are all medical issues. I don't see any difference between the treatment of fertility issues with medical intervention (i.e. IVF) and the treatment of cancer with medical intervention (i.e. chemotherapy and radiation). At least for me, the logic applied is the same.

I cannot see a life threatening situation that involves cancer the same as IVF....sorry That being said i wouldn't do IVF either. I am against it not for God and all that, but because i cannot believe that a human hand can make the same 'correct pick' that nature would have. I don't think we are as advanced as that yet. If i had fertility issues (or get fertility issues in the future) i might try medication but i would never give my egg to be fertilized by my husband's eggs by some foreigner's hand. That's the part that i have issues with. And that is also personal and involves no one else but me and my own mind and beliefs. As for the Lopez woman (apart from the fact that i really don't like her as either a singer or an actor) how come did she get to have twins. It's one thing to be above everybody else with God's name in your mouth, but having twins is not exactly proof that you haven't been messing with nature yourself woman........

That is a horrifically mean and hurtful thing to say, given how many mommies of beautiful, healthy IVF miracle babies there are on JM. Sorry, but no one's naturally conceived baby is more "correct" than someone's IVF baby. I hope you can see how hurtfully you phrased that and apologize. Clearly you never have suffered the pain of fertility issues, or you would never say such a thing.

I agree with Mandy on her last comment. And hmmmm if nature was so great at picking matches why are there so many babies born with inherited or congenital diseases where either the sperm or the egg was not so "perfect"?
I haven't had IVF and am not at the point of considering it... but I was lurking and also found the comment bizzare and illogical as well.

I agree 100%. That statement was very hurtful & apparently comes from a person that has never had a problem getting & sustaining a pregnancy. The honest to God's truth is if HE doesn't want the baby to be born, HE makes that choice, no matter how the child was conceived. HE has the final word, whether it is w/o assistance or via IVF.
