According to a recent Gallup poll, Americans still prefer baby boys over baby girls.  The same as they did back in 1941, Fox News reports.When 1,020 random American adults were asked which gender they would prefer having if they could only have one baby, 40 percent said they would want a boy, 28 percent would want a girl, and the remainder didn’t have a preference.

DH was the one to want a girl when I was pregnant the first time. I was holding onto that 20% chance of a boy from the 20 wk u/s until I was 30 wks. He was so happy for a girl. lol

In the article I found by http://byfiles.com search it was mentioned that another possible factor is that there is a perception, especially among younger people, that boys are easier to raise than girls. The first time someone said this to me, I thought it was the stupidest thing I'd ever heard in my life, but a shocking majority of my female friends (that brought this subject up, at least) said that they wanted boys because they're "easier," especially when the teenage years come along. It seems to me that you're not really signing up for an "easy" job either way when it comes to parenting, but maybe I'm biased since I'm one of the 2% that would prefer a girl.

Very interesting! I really wanted a girl for my first, although I would have been happy either way. In my mind, girls were easier to raise. And pretty much all my IRL friends feel the same. They all wanted girls first (and all got them!). Since I have one of each, I'll have a good idea of which is easier. So far, it's DD, but then again, things could change A LOT when they are teenagers.

I have both and in my case boys are easier but I love my girl so much. She keeps me entertained all day long and I love dressing her up and going shopping for Girly things. My boy is addicted to me he is the sweetest little thing ever and raising him up have been a breeze. But at the same time every child is different so I don't know if it's just a personality thing or statistics. Every child is a blessing
