What surprised you the most about your postpartum experience or body?

How peeing burned really bad for a few days after giving birth and that preperation H wipes were a gift sent from heaven. It took the stinging sensation away.

Uh, boobs leaking was kind of alarming. I don't miss waking up with a saturated shirt.

I agree with the boobs leaking! Definitely a surprise. I was also surprised by how emotional I was. Anything (like DH telling me he was going to an auction) would make me cry. I could just be sitting in the living room and out of nowhere I'd start crying.

How hard PP would be and how hard it would be to emotionally get over the labor.

My body was like a stranger to me after giving birth.
My privates were swollen and held together with stitches, I was bleeding a lot, I had hemorrhoids, my boobs were huge, and my tummy was deflated with lots of extra skin. It reminded me of jello. lol

I was prepared for being super emotional as my hormones settled but not prepared for how physically different I was. I missed my pre-pregnancy self.
But in time things started to heal and go back to somewhat normal.

The hormonal shift was really hard, but of course the physical effects were difficult too... peeing, pooping, etc!

how horrific the hemorrhoids were after my second! I couldn't sleep for days because of the pain and it took a good 2-3 weeks for them to go away. OUCH.

Other than that, not much, I didn't really have much in the way of mood swings or baby blues. My body otherwise felt just fine. Though the empty belly feeling was weird! lol
