Were you afraid to give birth?

Were you more afraid of labor, pushing, or having a c-section? Something else?

I wasn't afraid of giving birth or labor either time. It's an everyday thing (not in that I do it everyday, but in that it happens everyday).

I am afraid of a c-section mostly because I would be afraid of any kind of surgery.

I was a little nervous about pushing, not about the pain but about how long it might take. I was very afraid of getting induced. like kelly I was very afraid of an epidural and a c-section. I am terrified of having surgery while awake

I was terrified of induction, epidural, and cesarean. I wasn't afraid AT ALL of labor, contractions, pushing, etc. Turns out all three of my worst fears became reality. Sucked. Big time.

I didn't start getting afraid about labor until we were driving to the hospital for the induction with my first.. then I got nervous LOL. The labor/delivery part didn't bother me at all for the other 2 and doesn't for this one either. The only thing I'm afraid of.. and even more afraid of with this one because we're already worried about size is a c-section. I am so scared of any type of surgery. I made myself hysterical over the thought of oral surgery for my wisdom teeth couldn't imagine being awake for a surgery.

i wasn't nervous for the induction (i should have been)...but was terrified of a c-section and pretty nervous about an epidural - but had felt confident i wouldn't be getting an epi so didn't waste a lot of thought about it beforehand. But I was induced in part out of fear that I'd end up with a c-section due to baby's size...and I really wanted to avoid a c-section if possible.

With #1 I went in only being afraid of a c-section. Like the other ladies, I have no interest in someone cutting me open to have a baby.

With #2, I was a little afraid of the pushing, because it took soooo long and was sooo painful with my daughter. Shouldn't have worried, though. I layed on my side and he was out within half an hour.

I was afraid that with an induction it would lead to a c-section. I was afraid of an epidural. I was afraid of tearing and the pain after. This was all beforehand. Once it started, I let my worries go.

I was afraid of the epidural idea and the pain idea with my first.
With my second I was afraid of the induction.
With my third I was afraid I had let stupidity get the best of me.

With this one I'm afraid of c-section.

I was afraid of everything the first time.

I was afraid a bit of the pain the second time since I was medicated the first time.

I was a little afraid of the pain the second time because I knew he was posterior.

Right now, I'm not afraid of anything. I have a suspicious feeling about this pg again though. I knew from early on that ds2 would be different, I thought breech, but he turned out to be persistently posterior and delivered with a nuchal hand. This time I'm wondering breech again. We'll see.

I was terrified of the entire idea of giving birth, but I think I kinda proved myself wrong. I tolerated the pain much better than I thought..

Yes, but the timing sort of came as a surprise (I had a preemie). I guess I did not have the time to get really nervous about the birth, as I would have done if I would have carried 40 weeks. But I was very nervous about the health of my baby, and if he would have any complications.

I was super scared about the possibility of having an episiotomy and then sutures, but then I was told that less than 5% births get one in that hospital and I was placated... then I was one of the lucky few that had to have one! I was glad I had the epidural.

Exactly...the first time they were my biggest fears. I am not really afraid of the epi this time, I just do not want a csection at all...I am a little nervous this time, mainly because it will be almost 7 yrs since I gave birth, and hope I can do it again.
