I'm not counting early labor where I was surfing the web and able to concentrate fine. So....starting the clock at active labor, it was 6 hours of labor and 45 minutes of pushing.

#1 ~ from first strong contraction til birth 36hours * i blame this on getting a epidural at 5cm*

#2~ natural birth from first contraction til he was born 17hours.

1st - 7 hours, pitocin induction, epidural

2nd - 3 hours, all natural, no epi or drugs, water broke and that kicked things into gear fast.

I think with future babies I will head to the birth center when my contractions hit so I don't have the baby at home or in the car. It's a 35 minute drive....

My 1st labour was 9hrs and was a great experience I know that sounds crazy but I was so nervous being my first but it was fine yes ok painful but I could not have managed without my Tens machine which helped me to labour up to about 9cm.

My 2nd was 3.5 hrs and that was a back to back labour then my 3rd was 3hrs. I could not have managed without the use of the Tens machine which I hired from a company called babytens. . It was superb and helped me to focus and stay incontrol of the pain.

1st: Well I had preterm labor at first but thank God it was halted but I was already 7cm but it went down to 5cm for a month! When I was term already at exactly 37 weeks, I only labored for an hour or less!

Was 3.5cm at my 39 week checkup that Friday. Doctor swept my membranes. Went all day Saturday having a ton of discharge, but no contractions no nothing. Sunday was the same thing. DH and I were super mopey as it was the day before my due date.
Went to dinner and my water broke! Got to the hospital about an hour or so later, and I was already 6cm! An hour after that I was complete and had to wait 20 minutes for my doc to show up so I could push, haha.
I pushed for about 20 minutes and then my perfect little man arrived

From ZERO dilation to delivery 3h42min (30 of those minutes pushing) 1st child and 1 1/2 hours (no pushing) for 2nd child. For 3 & 4 on and off for one day but that's because they gave meds to try to stop labor (double-breech babies). Emergency c-section. I'd say all in all, probably labored on and off for abou 8 hours. I bet I'd have delivered them VERY fast if not for the dangerous positioning of baby "A" I'll update on this one once she's born

My first I started keeping track of contractions the day before around 11am...active pushing was about 30 mins
#2-Contractions began around 4am, water broken at 8am, pushed for 15 mins and he was born just b4 Noon
#3-I was having contractions (along with whatever flu thing that was going around) the day before..went in for observation around 11pm...got an epi and slept...I probably pushed twice and she was born...this was at 37w tho.
I am hoping this little guy stays put until 38 weeks and is like #2!

induced with 25 hours of labor, over half of which was hard labor.
Then 5 hours of pushing which finally resulted in a forceps delivery.
Everyone said they hadn't seen a women swell as much as I had. It's been 3 days and I still can't walk, sit or roll over in bed.

DS- about 30 hours, not sure exactly when contractions started

*one month before due date*
had slight back pain around 10:30am got worse through the day
by 11pm it was so intense I was vomiting and could hardly move, went to hospital
got hooked up to monitors and asked how long I had been having contractions... I couldn't even feel them because the back pain was solid
I was 2 cm at this point. They gave me something through the IV to manage the pain so I could sleep that night
by 8am I was only 4 cm, they decided to break my water-didn't help
decided to do a low dose of pitocin
things finally started moving
with that and sitting on the birthing ball, I went from 5cm to 8cm
got back up on the bed not too long after
once at 10cm, I pushed for less than 20 min and he was born at 6:40 that evening

while it was more medical than I was hoping, I did it without a c-section or epidural, so I really can't complain
