I have questions about induction starting with a foley catheter. I'm 40 weeks 3 days and they are starting the induction process on wednesday with the foley catheter method. for BTDT moms who had the method. did it hurt? did it work? what are your thoughts? any advice would be amazing.
i had the foley cath, during my induction - i had cytotec prior to that, and was on pitocin...the foley cath was pretty uncomfortable to get placed (but i was in active labor, just not dilating) so my midwife inserted the speculum, inflated the foley and was down with it. once it was in it wasn't that bad - it felt like a dislodged tampon or something. It is supposed to fall out on its own around 4cm, but mine got stuck its not that bad, but there ARE risks...the biggest one being it can cause preterm labor in subsequent pregnancies.
make sure your doctor goes over everything with you, but i like the option because it avoids the use of any medication
good luck and we would love for you to come back and update us after you deliver!!!!
