What was DH doing as you labored?

Was he helpful or disinterested?

My DH was with me, dancing with me and rubbing my back. He was very engaged.

DH was absolutely amazing. Poor guy was standing in the shower for hours and hours moving the massager over my back, or applying counter-pressure when I was out of the shower, physically holding me up sometimes when I tried to walk, and remembering the birth plan perfectly and doing everything he could to hold the staff to it. The poor guy looked worse than me when we were through, lol.

The only thing I remember getting irritated with him over was the constant nagging for me to drink some juice, but I know he was right there.

Jaysen has always been there to do exactly what needed him to do, but he seems to know that he can't do much, so he sits and reads or plays with his iPod. But if I asked for him or needed something he was right there. He sat on the floor beside the jacuzzi tub for 2 hours and chatted with me when I was in labor with Joel. That's actually one of my fondest memories of that day.

Jaysen did that when I was in labor with Cassidy, lol! I was in early labor when we got to the hospital, so the nurses wanted me to try and rest before they called the midwife, so I sent Jay out to the waiting room to sleep. 3 hours later, as I was in the middle of active back labor, I made the nurse go wake him up so he could come suffer with me

DH was very involved, pretty much tending to anything that I needed.

With Noah, DH was RIGHT there hovering.. anytime I made a noise or a wince or anything he jumped up and was asking if I was ok, what was happening and what could he do. He even refused to eat anything because I couldn't eat anything.

With Nicky, Dh was still right there. He held my hand through every contraction and asked constantly what he could do to help. And he was my biggest advocate toward the end.. even going to bat with the nurse over whether or not my water had actually been broken earlier (they had but they just put a pin hole in it. When the OB came in and really broke it that time you should have seen the look he gave my nurse). He was there the whole time and he was my rock when Nicky got admitted to the NICU the next day. He did let my mom go down to the cafeteria and bring him something back to eat this time though LOL

With Aly.. He fell asleep during early labor, informed me when the BIG contractions were coming by saying (Whoaaaaa hold on it's a big one ), and watched TV until it was time to push her out. He was right there and totally focused during the actual delivery part though. And this time he brought a few snacks and had my mom bring him something back up from the cafeteria again.

With Savannah.. He sat in the chair next to me reading his magazine and without looking up from his magazine, patted my hand during the contractions and said "doin' ok?" lol I think by this baby we were used to it because I was watching TV and only lost track of what I was watching during the really bad contractions. This time DH had a backpack FULL of snacks and drinks but he never got a chance to eat any of them because she came so quick lol

He was hanging out in the room, watching TV or talking to his parents. During my hard contractions, before I had my epidural, he was scared to touch me or talk to me.

For the most part, he used (at my insistence) my labor as a time to get laundry done and to go to a buffet for dinner since he hadn't eaten all day. It's not like I was going anywhere. I wasn't feeling any contractions. And we really needed the laundry done.
