For those of you who have already had at least one unmedicated childbirth:
Did you ever feel like you might not be able to continue on without pain meds/epidural? If so, how soon after that thought was your baby born?
I didn't technically get to have an unmedicated childbirth, but I did get really close.
My plan was to go unmedicated. I was induced with cervical gel, and my water broke spontaneously. I didn' t realizing I was progressing so fast (they didn't really check my progress, only when my water broke, I was 3cm. Then I unknowingly went from 3-10 in less that 6 hours. Since I progressed so fast and didn't know it was happening, I thought that there was no way I'd make it to 10cm if I was in this much pain so early on.
While I was getting my epidural, I felt my body begin to push and didn't say anything to the nurses. At that point I was in so much pain that I wanted that epidural whether I was pushing the baby out or not..lol
Knowing what I know now, I realize just how fast labour can go!
