I absolutley love my dr.,. I just found out they are hiring a midwife to start next month and then I have to rotate between teh two of them in case she is on call. Can midwives do c sections? I am nervous about using a midwife b/c I am doing a vbac again and one of things my dr. told me with my last baby is that he wasnt worried about anything happening and if it did he knew he could have me in the or in 5 minutes b/c they or rooms on the L&D floor at our hospital. But if the midwife cant do csections then what happens if I need one??

MWs do not do csections. However, in the rare event one should be needed, the OB will perform it. MWs work under an OB so long as the person is low risk. The moment a woman becomes high risk (or seems to be becoming high risk) care is turned over to the OB. So even if shes there for labor, the OB will also be there. She wont wait until theres an emergency, but rather if one appears to be presenting itself on the horizon, the OB is called in. So rest assured, as long as shes there, everything is goign normally. Even if its not seeming to go smooth - normal isnt always smooth

Keep in mind - the chances of another cesarean are unlikely IF you take precautions to avoid it. Do your research on vbacs. Avoid an induction, pitocin for induction or augmentation, move around in labor, etc... and things will have a higher chance of happening as planned. Find out your OBs vbac success rate.

I hope that answers your question. Youll do great

Lala...
