Ok, you wont believe this! I never did my intitial blood work! After my apt last week the nurse called me and said she didn't have record of it, and I was like, that's because I'm an idiot and forgot all about it until you called. LOL...So, she reprimanded me (nicely) and told me I needed to get it done NOW as far along as I am.

Then they got me worried. LOL..What the heck do they check for with all that blood? I know HIV, anemia, but what else? I don't have HIV (Dh and I got tested right before we got married), but I may be anemic. But what else could they find wrong? Now I will worry. I did the blood work today finally. The nurses will be so proud. HAHAHAHA....

So, anyone know what all they test for? I asked and she just said "everything". And we need it in case there's something we need to do. What the heck?

Nah, they still do the rh screening, or at least here they do. Hmmm... i honestly can't think of what they do. Stds, cbc (anemia etc) a urine culture for infection.. other stuff... Weird, I guess I don't really pay attention.

Yay for finally getting it done though! How did you forget?

I know they also check your blood type which I find strange that it wouldn't already be in your charts from previous pregnancies. I even said to the nurse, "I know my blood type so can we skip that vial?" lol, she had no sense of humor

Well I was afraid to ask for the time off from work to go do it when she originally gave me the paperwork and then I kept putting it off, and now that was so long ago I forgot all about it.

They check for:

Blood Count (CBC)
Blood Type/RH factor
Antibody Screen for antibodies that may harm your baby
Rubella Titer - immunity to german measles
Serology - Syphilis (required in my state)
Hep B Screen
HIV - required by NY State

That's what the packet my midwifes office gave me says they did with all my vials.
