My MIL gets me/us the weirdest things.

Last year she got about a dozen + Christmas ornaments for us. I told her we're good, we're set.. This year? The same freaking thing!! And then some weird *** sweater. . . It's an Animal Planet one (and says that on it, ***?). And honestly, I cannot tell what in the world is on it. My mom was cracking up at it. . . I was dumbfounded.

I am grateful for any and every gift I ever receive. I honestly am. But I really wish the lady would get myself and DH things we'd actually USE. We have no room for useless stuff.. 1 out of 5 things she gets us gets used. . . It's bad.

I hate to be ungreatful too because it is the thought that counts but seriously you sit and wonder sometimes.

My MIL bought me a pair of size small pajama's the first year dh and i met (when I am very clearly not a size small -- she is smaller than me and wears a medium duh) in his family before they got divorced they used to have a tradition of the girls wearing pajamas all day on xmas and the guys would do the cooking and cleaning well so infront of everyone she tells me to go put them on and had to explain to her she got the wrong size. Her response to me was oh well then i guess next time you shouldn't be so shy to share your size and this wouldn't have happened.

Also one time when I was 12 or 13 my grandma got me a windchime that you'd put on your porch LAMO.

One year SIL made us some ornaments for the tree. I appreciate homemade gifts but... shes not crafty, they looked like something you might make in gradeschool and she was 28 years old at the time. So, just weird.

Well the CREEPIEST gift by far I have ever gotten was some leopard lingerie for DH and I.... from his GRANDMA!!!! ewww!

His family gets us all sorts of crap though... I try to just thank them for it and make sure they never find out that we don't use it or keep it. They get me things like little pig knickknacks, horrid smelling candle sets, alcoholic logo drinking glasses (ugh), and one year even a toothpick dispenser with toothpicks in it (like a seriously crappy cheap plastic thing though it wasn't the only gift they gave us or anything).... Money is tight for them so I figure they probably just get whatever they can find in their small town that isn't too expensive... but man I wish I could just tell them we DON'T NEED GIFTS!

Ooh, my MIL is notorious for this kind of thing! Of course, the thought being what counted is by far the most important factor, and she always managed to find very odd (but with the right intentions) gifts.

Our favorite year was when we all opened presents at my SIL's the year before DH and I were married. My MIL sent the presents (she lives in Phoenix) so we could open them altogether. The best of the worst: SIL got a topsy-tail, DH got a picture (not in a frame) of him and his parents at his high school graduation, and I got a dollar store plastic horse. I remember my SIL and DH were so mad because she got my BIL a DVD that he really wanted. She really wanted to get everyone as many gifts as possible, but he insisted that she didn't have to do that and he got one 'big' gift. Oh, it was SO FUNNY!

My grandparents once got me bic pens for Hannukkah. Not a nice kind of pen either... the blue ink with the white plastic and the blue cap. It was the worst gift! Now every year my parents get pens for us as a joke!

Well let's see besides being greeted by my mother tonight telling me "Look how big Lainey has gotten...I am sure it has nothing to do with Mamas eating habits" UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH seriously?! I just didn't even know how to freaking respond.....

One year my Gram got me this vest from an art fair that was so horridly ugly...I was in 9th grade. It was brown velvet in thefront with like lace and buttons and crap all over it then the back was silk and they attempted to tie dye it and it just looked like an animal peed down the back of it LMFAO!

Then my ex hubby one year spent over 60 dollars on some snoopy collector set from the Japanese McDonalds while we were in Okinawa....I had said it was cute but didn't mean I wanted it LMFAO!

Eww who would want to put cookies in something that had poporui in it and why would you put poporui in a cookie jar. ***! Thats funny! MIL always makes us handmade ornaments or hand made stuff that looks like a 5 year old kid did. I LOVE LOVE handmade crafty stuff if the person has any talent what so ever but when you can't tell if it was a 4 year old or a 54 year old that made it theres a problem there.
