because having to fast with no food or drink from midnight to 12:30pm (when my surgery is) wasn't bad enough, Monday I can only have clear liquids, and enjoy some surgery prep cocktail. Ew. :S

Kind of kills my plans of enjoying the cheesecake factory that night as a last feast pre op; lame!

Anyone else have to do this prior to their lap?

I've heard of people having to do this before. I *think* Jackie was one of those. I didn't have to do it before either of mine. I have had a colonoscopy though and had to do it then. Get lots of broth and jello and tell DH to be prepared to feed you as soon as you get home.!!!!

I was on a strict no food or liquid diet, I could only have just enough water to take pills and that was it. Afterward though in the recovery room they gave me jelly toast and tea.

yeah, thats how Tuesday (the day of my surgery) is, and monday is a clear liquids only diet. I'm definitely planning my first post op meal already, lol!

Allow me to share this tid bit: Magnesium Citrate is NASTY. That is all. It doesn't matter WHAT flavor it is, it just tastes awful.

Also: Avoid going to Target to fill scripts on the day of a clear liquid diet. You will see candy like Valentines Candy, and you will be sad you can't have any!

I feel your pain. I had a blockage about a year ago and had to drink that stuff. I don't think I got it all down. The doctor warned me not to get the flavored stuff because it was actually worse.

I'll be thinking about you tomorrow. Update us when you feel up to it.

Somehow I got it all down, but then gagged for literally 20 minutes! I tried with a straw and I think that made it worse, so I just chugged it. :S It was a Lemon flavor, they had that, or Cherry. :S Such choices. Thankfully that part of my day is over and wasn't that bad. I have every intention of making some more broth in the middle of the night before my "don't eat or drink after" time. hah!

And I will definately update you all when I feel up to it, it may be a percocet post but we are kind of used to those here anyways, right?
