My doctor said we *could* do an MRI to try to determine the cause of my sciatic pain, but she said it was likely that it wouldn't show anything. She said I could call back and get an order for one at any time. So I've been debating whether or not to get one done. My symptoms are starting up again this cycle ( I'm 5 DPO) and I'd like to get it done while I'm having the symptoms, ya know? I don't think there would be much point in having the MRI done on CD10 or something, when I feel great. MRIs are plenty spendy, so I don't want to have one done if there's no point, but part of me feels like what ever is causing this radiating pain would have to show up. ( I know that a lap is the only definitive way to diagnose endo).

Has anyone had an MRI for possible endo? Did it show anything?

I had an MRI to figure out what was growing on my left side. They did see some endo on it but I don't think they usually do. Does your insurance cover it?

I will have to check with my insurance. I think they would cover it if the reason for the test is sciatic pain....are tests for endometriosis not covered?

ETA: I'm hoping that if it's not endo, maybe the MRI will show SOMETHING else so we will have a clue what we are dealing with.

It should be covered. I was just asking because if it would be I say go for it. If nothing else it could rule out some things.

Ugh. What kind of MRI did you have?
The nurse finally called and had my order ready to fax....and it's of my lumbar spine? Seriously, I'm NOT having back problems, I'm having reproductive problems! I'm an x-ray tech, and I know sciatic pain is related to the Lumbar spine, but I think it would make more sense to have an MRI of my pelvis done.ugh.

That's kinda odd. Maybe it's your doc's way of ruling out lumbar problems? I had one of my pelvic area.

I talked to the nurse and now the doctor is ordering a lumbar AND pelvis MRI. She told the nurse she's sure I don't have endo but she'll order the pelvis if I want to, she's more worried about my back.
Right. My back just happens to hurt 10 days out of the month.
