Hi girls, I usually post on the PCOS board but since October I have been having really painful cycles. The cycle in January was killer, I actually went to the ER thinking I had a huge cyst (been through that once before). I had to take percocet a few times when AF finally came to end that cycle. I asked my GYN (at my annual) in February if he thought I had Endometriosis. Before I could even get it all out he said that he thought there was a very high chance that I did. He offered Lupron or a Lap. He recommended the lap. Not an option for me at the moment because I have a management clinical for school in a couple of weeks, have to do it or I won't graduate. When I asked him about recovery time he said maybe a week, maybe 6 weeks depending on what they find. I've decided to put it off, partly because he said he would do ovarian drilling at the same time and I won't be TTC for a while (kind of want to save that option).
Sorry, I said all of that to ask this . . . for those of you that know you have endo, does the intesity flucuate? The cycle in February was a piece of cake compared to the way they had been until January! I just want to compare. Oh, also is it normal with endo to have the pain start at the middle of the cycle and stay until AF is done?

Thanks!

Hi. I'm sorry you're dealing with the pain! My pain does fluctuate, but between really really bad and just really bad. In the beginning I would have some months where the pain wouldn't be as bad. Every time you have a period the endo has the possibility of growing/spreading. It is normal for it to start mid cycle. I know my Clomid cycles (the only time I know for sure I ovulate) the pain starts with O and continues until AF.

I am so sorry that you are going through this!! My pain changes. Some cycles are worse than others. It really just depends. I had a lap done and am currently on Lupron. If you have any other questions or just want to talk feel free to pm me!

It does fluxuate for me too. I have months when I am fine, bairly need meds and other months I can't even get out of bed.

That being said I would recommend having a lap as soon as possible. Maybe right after your school stuff? I say that because when I had my lap almost 2 years ago and was severe endo- doc said she wished she had seen me 2 years earlier because she could have helped me more. So even though you are not ttc it is important to help you feel better and keep you body from doing things that may not be able to be fixed later on.

Anyways- off my soap box! Hopefully this month is more tolerable for all of us!
