I've had this surgery 3 times (once for an ectopic pg, but it is the same procedure) and it hurts afterwards for a few days, but for the most part it is a piece of cake. Like the PP said, you won't even remember the tube. All that I remember from my surgeries is being in the prep room and getting my iv started, and putting the fashionable gown, hat, and pressure hose on. The nurse would then give me a dose of something to help me relax. Then she would take me into the surgery suite and I would lay on the table, and they put one of the squishy oxygen masks over my nose and mouth (and I got to choose which scent I wanted, from things like grape, bubblegum, watermelon, etc). They told me to count down from 10, and I only got to 9 before I was knocked out.
Next thing I know I'm in recovery. No recollection of any intubation or anything like that. They do all of that after they have knocked you out. At that point I didn't feel pain yet b/c they still have you drugged up. Even once I started feeling pain, my nurse would give me a couple doses of morphine before I had to leave. They would want to see me get up and pee at least once, and my doctor would come in to discuss what she found, and then I went home. It hurt pretty bad for the next couple days, but you'd be surprised how quickly you will recover. Your doctor will send you home with pain medication, though. The more you move around, the better you will feel. I would stay in bed for the first day or so after surgery, but after that I would be up on the sofa.
Good luck!! I'm sure you'll be fine. I hope it goes well, and that you recover quickly!
