I had my 4 week follow up this morning. Dr. said that the path reports came back clean as far as cancer goes. Huge relief since I have a family history of ovarian cancer. He said that my left ovary was in bad shape and he would have had to remove it even if we hadn't decided that before hand. He also said that dissection of the uterus showed severe adenomyosis (sp?). He said he understood why I was in so much pain with my periods and couldn't believe I had suffered as long as I had. He also told me that even though Dr.'s can't really agree on the subject, he believes that was the cause of my m/c and why I haven't been able to get pregnant. He reassured me that I made the right choice and chances are very good that I never would have been able to get pregnant because the amount of endo inside the uterus was so great. It was one of those "worst I've ever seen" things - yay me. The only bad side was that he said since we've been trying so long I've probably been "pregnant" several times but the egg had no chance of implantation.

He got everything he could see. I'm staying away from HRT for as long as possible to make sure it has a chance to dry up.

That is such great news! You must be so relieved! I'm glad you won't have to deal with that again, too. And I'm glad you'll never have adno pain again either. My mom had a severe case of it too, and before she had her hysterectomy she said the pain was worse than labor. The doctors suspect I have a mild version of it, so I'm hoping to pop out some babies ASAP so I can get rid of my uterus before it gets as bad as hers.

Did you talk to the doc about IC at all?

I did mention IC. He thinks it's just bladder spasms since our bladders aren't used to being touched and pushed around. I'm taking Detrol and we'll reevaluate when I go back in 3 weeks.
