I have to really watch myself. My paternal grandparents were hoarders. I don't mean people who just collect a bunch of stuff, but actual hoarders. They could have gone on that TV show if it was around then. Their house was actually condemned once. My mother wouldn't even let us go to their house. My dad wasn't as bad as them, but definitely had hoarder tendencies. At one point our whole dining room was filled with boxes to the point it was unusable, as well as our shed. After my parents divorced it took my mom more than a year to go through all his junk and toss most of it. I don't have a need to keep stuff the way they seemed to, but I will let stuff pile up. I think mostly out of laziness. When I notice things start to get out of control I I'm pretty good about going through it and getting rid of 4 or 5 trashbags of stuff all at once. Sometimes I think I get rid of stuff I shouldn't because I'm so afraid of becoming like them.
