Well it looks like my sister is going to have a scheduled csection. She is hoping it will be this Thursday. I have decided that we will go to the hospital whichever day she has Amiya. I am struggling some but I am looking forward to my birthday and spending the weekend with DH!!!

Thank you!

I know for sure we are going to see Oz in 3d and are going to dinner at Carrabbas. (I love their steak marsala!) DH says he has some surprises planned too. Saturday we are buying some plants then are going to a St. Patricks Day Festival. And Sunday we are going to plant our raised bed veggie garden. It should be a fun birthday weekend just the two of us!

Hey ladies!!!! Wooooo this past week has been crazy! And this week is going to be crazy too! Last Thursday my sister had my niece. She was 6lb 14oz and 19 in long. She is beautiful with her full head of black hair. I spent the day Thursday at the hospital. It was one of the hardest things I have ever done but it was worth it. I got to be there for my sister and I got to hold my brand new niece. We went back there Friday for like half and hour so DH could hold her. (He is struggling just like I am that we are not the ones with the new baby.) Then we had a great somewhat stressful weekend. I swear getting older sucks sometimes. But we did spend the whole weekend together. This morning I got my last lupron shot then I went over to my parents' house to see my mom, sister, and my new niece. I got lots of snuggles in. I am home now and my hip hurts where I got the shot. Tomorrow I have to clean then Wednesday night my uncle is coming to stay with is until Saturday. Then I start work next Monday which will make life even busier.

Cait, great news that your sister and niece are doing well. I can only imagine how hard it was (((hugs))). Are you ready to start work again?

Our power went out at 11pm last night and only just came back on at 4pm. 17 hours without power sucks!!! My poor fish almost froze to death.

Hey guys just wanted to let you know we won't be TTC any longer. We found out that DH has extremely low testosterone. The average man his age has 827, an 85-100 year old man has 241, his is only 155. He has many symptoms of low T that make tons of sense now. I know that his quality of life will improve a lot once he starts treatment. Unfortunately, the best treatment options will make him sterile. There are other treatments (HCG and Clomid, actually) but they work by raising LH (or causing the body to think it has more LH). His LH is fine so I doubt those would work for him. In normal circumstances I think we would at least try, but with my issues as well I'm not sure there is a point. I've been in continuing pain since the 4th (with about a day and a half pain free the 7th and 8th) so this is probably for the best. I have an appointment next Wednesday to discuss what we should do on my end going forward.

We do plan on going the adoption route, but not for years yet. We just can't afford it right now. We may start looking into fostering after we move (which should hopefully be next year). I'm not sure how well I'd deal with getting to know and love kids only to send them back to their parents/families though.

Yes it is. I think it is somewhere between twenty to thirty thousand dollars and can cost more than that.

Yes unfortunately adoption can cost as much or more than IVF.

Something I'm starting to look into though is embryo adoption. It's much cheaper than regular IVF, more along the price of a FET cycle. There is one clinic who has a price list on their website and a cycle only costs $3,477, plus the cost of progesterone (estimated $560 from transfer to pregnancy test, more if you are successful but at that point insurance might cover it). We wouldn't be starting that process at least until I get my pain situation figured out but I'd like to think sometime in the next year it may be possible.

Yes I think it's really neat! I'm actually pretty mad that this isn't more commonly known, especially how inexpensive it is comparatively. If I had known about this when we started TTC in 2011 we might have gone that way initially. DH has always preferred we adopt but I wanted the experience of pregnancy, and I knew we wouldn't be able to afford adoption for a while. We could have just done this last year instead of our cruise if we had known!
