So, forgive me, I have little knowledge when it comes to gardening.

Last fall, I bought a couple small pots (about 5in in diameters) so I could bring some of my herbs in from my garden outside for the winter.

Now that it is time to put the herbs back in the garden, I really want to put some pretty flowers in these little pots for the summer time.

The pots sit on my kitchen window sill which gets TONS of sunlight.

I'd like something that would not mind being in a small pot. Any suggestions?

I bought a small african violet and put that in my kitchen right by the window. I don't actually know if you are supposed to but mine did great. It wasn't direct sunlight though. And my window is west facing. So evening light. I think that makes a difference. I am still learning though. You could go to a local flower shop and ask what they might have. They have cut and potted plants and usually have lots of knowledge.

Here is a short list of flowres that can be grown indoors:

African Violet is on that list and they say they thrive on neglect. I think I may try to find one to give to my mom for mothers day actually...
