Hi ladies!! So I've had my heart set on planting and growing both watermelon and cucumbers this year. Well the area I was set on planting in does not get sun in the morning and not until after noon. Both cucumbers and watermelon say they need full all day sunshine. The area I want to plant in gets direct sun from noon until dark, a good 6+ hours. Does anyone know if this would be enough sun for these two plants? Should I just try it or opt for some place else.. (Some place else is going to be harder to do) Thanks for any help!
In AZ, 6 hours would be fine for watermelon & cucumbers. I'm in IN and if I put mine in full sun they are wilted by afternoon. Watermelon and squash are frequently grown as a three sisters companion trio with corn and beans - they can benefit from being shaded.
