I guess I should write a birth story eh??
I went in for my last OB appt on Monday March 15. I was having horrible pains from a patch of 'steel' lol aka scar tissue that was hanging very low on my belly. My NST went great, BP was ehhh, but my OB still insisted on making me wait til Friday March 26 to deliver Nate by c/s. We had fought the entire pregnancy about conception/due dates...and I wouldnt drop it. I was freaked out to think we had a 2-3 week difference in opinion of gestation even though all u/s and measurements lined up with MY conception date!! Just as I was about to leave he told me to sit for a minute, came back in with a calendar and told me he would do my section on Mon March 22 instead of Friday. 5 less days pregnant, HELL YEAH I would take that!
I swear until the moment he was born this child FLIPPED a million times. The Fri. before my c/s I was in horrible pain and he was turning yet AGAIN. I could tell he was huge and felt like my insides were being ripped apart! I was so thankful when Monday arrived!
We checked into our room, had pre-op blood work, iv placed (on first try wahoo!), and the nurses strapped on the monitor and couldnt find his heartbeat. I told them that he had turned the night before and they didnt believe me! Lo and behold he was transverse! An hour later they brought out the u/s machine to see where he was so they knew where to cut and he was BREECH! Yet again he turned before the section and was back to heads down. They all thought he was tiny to be flipping like that but I knew better!
I walked into the OR and started shaking so bad when they went to do the spinal. Everyone was great and the spinal wasnt HALF as bad as I thought it was. I was all numbed up and they brought Thomas in and they begun. We heard the OB go, "ok scalpel.....hmmm...scissors?....oh just get the laser" and they could NOT cut through my 'steel plate' aka scar tissue. He said it was one of the worst cases he had ever seen! Lucky for all the students on hand they got a really good show! LOL. After what seemed like forever we heard, "HES GOT A HUGE HEAD!!" and out came Nate. I was a hot mess crying when I heard him cry. Thomas watched the entire surgery! Then she yelled out, "he's 9lbs 3oz!" and I said what? 8 3?" LOL How the heck did 4' 11' ME have a 9lb baby!!!
His apgars were 9/9, he was 9lbs 3oz, 21.5 inches long and had perfect skin! He looked like his big brother when Nicholas was 2 months old, it was crazy!!
We are needless to say in love and so happy that the pregnancy is over and Nick can enjoy his little brother Nate.
Having some BP and heart issues after the fact but it is all worth it!
