My name is Erika. I am a 21 year old mommy of two .. Aydin (2 1/2) and Jordyn (1 on August 2nd).

Jordyn after birth had Failure to Thrive due to very very bad GERD. She lost a pound and a half in one month and got real sick. It caused her to have vision problems (which now are slowly resolving). A few months later she started having 10-12 stools a day and now has had C-Diff three times. She has had dozens of infections, RSV and now has tubes in her ears. Currently she is going to a Gastrointerologist trying to find out what is wrong. They have tested her for Cystic Fibrosis which was borderline and has to be repeated.. and we just got back blood work and her liver enzymes are highly elevated. Now the next step in finding out what is wrong with her is seeing a hepatologist. I am super frustrated as a mommy with doctors not knowing... and I hope to find some support, and maybe even another mommy who is having these same problems with they daughter/son. Jordyns current weight is 15 1/2 pounds (she has reached her goal for her 1st bday!)

I wish I could get some answers.. or find another mommy with a similar circumstance..

Welcome!
My DD is 14 months old and had failure to thrive for her first year. She's finally stabilized on the growth curve so is doing fine now. But I hear you - we went through TONS of tests with her - nothing was conclusive. Even spent 4 days in the hospital at 5 weeks old. The only thing she was ever diagnosed with was reflux. Well, she supposedly had whooping cough (never confirmed) and later did have RSV (another hospital stay). And tomorrow she gets ear tubes for recurring ear infections! So we don't quite have the exact same story as you, but can definitely relate (I have a 2.5 year old like you too!)

So does Jordyn just not eat enough or she eats enough but doesn't gain weight? My DD didn't eat enough and the reflux made her throw up entire bottles - so she just didn't get the calories she needed. But even after we got the vomiting to stop with prilosec, she still didn't eat enough. Not sure what changed, but she loves to eat now. She's still thin, but doing well now.

We're here for you!

Hi Erika,
Welcome to the board. I wish I had some advice for you but my FTT guy is almost 6 yrs old and has different issues. I hope someone here can help you - I'll send you a PM though b/c I think I know of something that might be of interest to you.

Good luck! I know how hard it can be!

We are really similar. Jordyn has had dozens of ear infections, sinus infections, RSV, upper respiratory infections, Clostridium Difficile ("C-Diff"), etc.. and so they put tubes in her ears and she is still getting them. They said the C-Diff was from too many antibiotics, but she hasnt had any abx (antibiotics) for 2 months and has c-diff again. She is miserable. She loses weight with the c-diff too.
She eats like a HORSE.. you give it to her, she will eat it. When she was born, the GERD made her vomit up the bottles. Everytime she ate she would vomit it back up.. it was bad. Even then no doctor would listen to me, I had to change her doctor in order to get her Zantac.
