For Kade's weight problem we have seen a pediatric gastroenterologist, a dietitian, and a developmental pediatrician.
Kade doesn't gain weight properly because of his inability to consume large quantities of calories. It seems his stomach has never expanded quite the way it should have.
We've started with 2 ounce feedings during the day and we've worked up to 4 ounce feedings. Our next goal will be to have him tolerate 8 ounces.
We've also increased his night feeding from 28 ounces to 32 ounces.
It's a slow progress that has frequent set backs but eventually his stomach will grow in size.
What specialists has your child seen?
Have you learned anything about your child in these visits? Why he or she is not gaining? How to help him or her gain? etc?[/b]
The docs we have seen in regards to Cade's FTT are and endocrinologist, gastroenterologist, immunologist and genetecist. So far from these docs we have found out that he has reflux and that he has some immune issues. His genetecist is the one who ordered his upcoming MRI - he hasn't had one in 4 yrs so I will be interested to see what this one shows.
Paige has seen a neurologist (her head isn't growing), an endocrinologist, a geneticist, an ophthalmologist (she had surgery for strabismus), and a nutritionist. We still know nothing. It is really frustrating.
