Hi all. I'm curious as to what car seats you are using (those of you with children getting older). My little guy is 34 months now. I'd like to move him out of the seat that we've had since infancy (it DOES go up to 40lbs). I find that it isn't all that accomodating to his height. My other son had outgrown this seat before he was 1yr old! I was looking at the Brittax line since it looks like their harness goes up to 65-80lbs but it is pricey. I can handle that if I know it is the right thing to do. I'd hate to spend the money to find out that it wasn't. Most of the other seats that I see are only up to 40lbs. Since my fellow is smaller than the average kid, I think he will need the front harness for a longer period than most. Any thoughts? Who do you suggest I contact for a technical response (for safety).

Thanks!

ps - weigh in this week and he was still only 26 lbs. Drat!

You may want to post on the baby gear board as well. I kept Brandon in an infants seat for quite a while. But now he rides in one of Jeremy's old seats.

Well my 3yr old (27lbs) is still in the roundabout that only goes to 40lbs and 40inches (he's 35 inches and having growing pains). We chose this one because at the time we had a civic and needed to put two in it with not enough room. My youngest is in the Britax decatholon and I love it as much as the other britaxes we own.

For your son I would choose the marathon (same weight and height limit as the decatholon but without the hugs that I needed since she is still only 6months old). The britax is expensive but if you get the marathon its the last seat you will have to buy. You do get what you pay for and the seat is comfy for the kids, easy to clean and strap in and the belts don't tangle. I have two cheaper seats for dh's car and they are again what you pay for....the kids can't sleep in them, the belts are harder than snot to fasten and its hard to clean the cover.

PM me if you want more info. The britax site has safety info - but I do know that they are the only ones with side impact restistance.

Hi. I am only a lurker on this board but I wanted to reply to your question. I have to agree with Twinmom as far as the Britax seats go. My 3 1/2 yr old is pretty small - about 28 lbs and I had him in a Britax Roundabout but I needed that one for my younger son so I bought my 3 yr old a Britax Marathon. I really want him to stay harnessed longer not only because he is smaller than the average 3 yr old but also because he tends to have some issues with low muscle tone and I just feel that he will be much safer.

Let us know what you decide to get!

We have a britex wizard and we love it!! I have gotten to use the Roundabout before too and loved it even more. We actually have a roundabout too for when we need it in another car. My son needed head support so we had to get the wizard but the others are great and cheaper then the wizard. We paid $300 for it!!
