Well, the upper GI went as well as could be expected. He was so hungry, he drank the barium with no problems. I got to stay in the room with him during the procedure, which made me feel a lot better. Of course he decided to reflux AFTER it was over, so that did not show up on the scan.
Fast forward to our doctor's appointment the same day--all the tests (blood, urine, upper GI) came back completely normal. But the great news is: he gained 10 ounces in a WEEK! He's officially 11 pounds. His "spit-up" is a lot worse right now--it took 2 bath towels to clean up the doctor's floor after our visit, but some how he's managing to gain. He's also demanding to be feed every hour and a half (4.5 ounces every time). I'm not sure what's happening, but the pedi GI seemed to be pleased with the amount of weight gain.
The doctor said to keep him on the same dose of Zantac (1 mL, 3x a day, 1/2 hour before feeding) Reglan (.5 mL, 3x a day, 1/2 hour before feeding). I'm hoping by his 6 month appointment, he's made some more weight gain. I just wish I could find a way to calm down the "spit-up" as the doctor calls it. Personally, it resembles vomiting to me, but I'm just the mom
So our next appointment is August 4th, the day after his 6 month appt with our regular pedi. I will update everyone then!
