Hi my name is Brandy and my daughter was diagnosed with hypothyroidism at 6 months old and she has recently been diagnosed with FTT. She will be 1 year old Oct 19 and she weighs 15.5lbs and is 25 inches long. She has never stopped gaining weight, although it has been slow, she has stopped growing in height, she has been 25 in since May. We do see a endocrinologist to help monitor her thyroid and we were recently tested for growth hormone deficiency which came back that she was deficient with Somatomedin C, but we are still doing more testing before she is diagnosed. We have met with a genetisist who doesnt feel like this is a syndrome and we are having MRI Friday to help rule out or determine obvious malformations, tumors, etc.
I have been reading a few posts and it seems that yall are a wealth of knowledge and resources. Does anyone else here have a hypoT baby? It has been hard for me to find anyone who understands what exactly we have been going through!

I Am Angie and my daughter Abbey was doagnosed with FTT back in November of last year, we have gone through EVERY test you can imagine and they have all come back negative, so we still have no answers as to why she is so small. She turned 1 on the 4th of July and weighed 14lbs, she has put some weight on since then but she too has also stopped growing lenght wise.
I hope you can get some answers soon! Keep us posted!

Welcome! We do not have any experience with hypothyroidism, but wanted to say a quick hi. My little toddler is 28 months, weighs 21lbs and is 33 inches tall. Our ped has been pretty lax so far and has not done any testing at this point. He was gaining consistently (about 1lb every 3 months) but he has now stopped gaining. We see the ped on the 19th. Best of luck with the MRI! Hope everything comes back just fine.

Danny doesn't have hypoT but I do. I haven't even had my first endo appt but he was tested and was normal. He is 27 months and weighs 24 lb. 0oz. He isn't super tiny but for the first 9 months he was heavy then just stopped altogether pretty much. We have no answers so far and have been testing since 04/08 so I am SOOOOOOOOOOO happy for you that you have an answer NOW!!! That makes coping with things and caring for your LO so much easier!!! Good luck with everything and I hope that the MRI comes back normal as well!

My daughter was diagnosed with FTT at 11 months and hypothyroidism at 12 months. She has been on synthroid ever since and honestly its done nothing to improve her weight gain, but she has severe feeding issues along with several other problems. We finally saw a geneticist last August and it turns out she has a NF1 caused by a microdeleted chromosome. I'm told that this would not of shown up on a regular genetic screening (whatever that is).
ETA: I had been asking for almost two years if there was a possibility that all of her problems were connected and was always told that she didn't have the "look".
