Hello!

I'm jess, mommy to Zach (3) and Cody (12months). Cody is 14lbs 9oz and 27.5 inches.

Cody has been labeled FTT b/c he hasn't gained weight or height since he was 6 or 7 months old. We are currently undergoing test for IGF-1 deficiency. I should get those results late next week. We go back to the specialist in Oct. to see if he has gained weight from now until then.

I am trying to feed him all sorts of high calorie foods and drinks. He loves milkshakes!

I am new too, Ana is also 12 months, 30" and 16lb.
What will the next step be if the tests come back positive? I also try and feed her all the high calorie foods I can think of (I do try to make sure they are healthy too!). Milkshakes is a great idea though.

We have to go back in 6 months to see if he has gained any weight. Depending on how much or little he has gained, we are looking at having to do a 3 hour blood test. They will put an IV in his arm and give him some sort of a growth hormone to see how his body reacts to it and will draw his blood every 30 minutes for the 3 hours.

Depending on what that test result is, we could possibly have to give him growth hormone shots daily until he finishes puberty.

We could just get very lucky and he will hit a growth spurt in the next 6 months and not have to worry about any of it.

I too hope he gains weight and you won't have to worry about it. Did the hormone test come back normal or deficient? I hope you don't have to give him hormones everyday. Danny has to take enzymes every time he eats. If you have to go that route it will feel overwhelming at first but eventually he will get used to the routine. Shot in the morning, before nap or after dinner sort of thing and just get on with his day. I hope he gains well over the next several months!
