Age-------------------- Energy Recommendations
0-6 months----------108(kcal/kg/d)

6-12 months---------98(kcal/kg/d)

1-3 years-------------102(kcal/kg/d)

kcal/kg/d means calories per kilogram per day. I couldn't find anything in pounds but 1 kilogram is equal to 2.2 pounds. Here is a link to convert your child's weight to kilograms.
Once you figure out how many kilograms just multiply it by the number of recommended calories.

Julia's 13 months old, and she needs at least 1050-1100 calories/day. The "normal" range is 715, I think lol

The standards also don't take into consideration metabolism. DS used to require more calories because he burned so much breathing. Now that the lung situation is under control, he doesn't need as many calories. DS doesn't walk independently yet (low tone, just crawls and cruises), so calories stick around in him longer.

He gets 1050-1150 kcal/day. He's 38" and weighs 32lbs, just turned 3. He'd probably weigh more but he got a horrible stomach flu in December, and lost 4.5lbs, so we're 1lb away from where we were before he got sick (not a bad return on weight geain).

At his peak when still on oxygen - then coming off he was on 1300 kcals, and he was getting fat so that's when the drs adjusted it down. He's currently in the 65% for weight and 75% for height - so we're doing fine on lower kcals.
