Kennedy will be the one to put my in my grave. It's decided. *sighs*
Hey, this post isn't CF related for a change! But it's still Kennedy-related! Anyway...K had PT today (she has PT and OT for hypotonia - PT also works on the fact that her left foot turns in...think I told you all about that)...
Therapist was THRILLED with K's progress this week. Leaps and bounds over last week. She's crawling like a normal baby finally, and offering only minor resistance when we force her to use her left leg to stand. The foot/leg is sill turning in pretty bad, and she still cruises very improperly on the right side...but any improvement at this point is incredible, PT says. She was impressed to learn (as was I) that K is now standing up in the middle of the room w/o support or help to standing. Loved her crawling. Thrilled that she's doing some kneeling. Kudos, marvelous, great.
PT detected something that I *thought* I'd seen but as I'm at the point where I feel like if I bring one more problem to the doc she'll question my sanity. Anyway, while examining her she stretched her legs out. Got this look on her face, and did it again. I commented hesitantly that I thought I'd noticed her left leg seemed shorter than her right. PT not only confirmed it, but checked her leg in multiple positions to confirm that it was a consistent shortening...it is. Full length, her left leg seems shorter. Bent legs, you can visibly see her left knee is about 1/2" below her right. On stomach, legs bent up, you can see her left foot about 1/2" below her right. PT said she wanted to mull it over this week and check it again next week...and may just send her for X-rays to check the hip out to make sure this is, in fact, a muscular problem. I really should call my cousin at this point...but she's been out of school for almost 5 years...would she truly be of use? *sigh*
K is a very strong and determined baby...I keep reminding myself of that....but some days I feel beat down by the myriad of problems...and here I thought Molly would be my problem child. Her limitations seem so minimal anymore. They are still there and a struggle, but they are limitations I know I can handle. Every day, every week K seems to challenge me more.
ANyway, on the more good news front...both girls had their checkups yesterday...and for the first time ever Molly was on the peds charts!! Now, this is by her charts, and not the nutritionist or specialist (everyone's scales are different)...and I will swear that her scales were seriously off yesterday because of what they weighed K in at...but seeing M's dot on that 3rd percentile line was a momentary high We'll see how she does w/ the nutritionist next week...and the specialist in June...but we're moving up in a good way
I came here to see if you had posted about the girls. Im really glad that Molly is back on the charts and that Kennedy is responding well to the PT. Hopefully you guys will get more answers on the CF front soon.
Just wanted you to know that I am thinking about you and the girls!

It seems like there was a lot more good news than bad and that is always a good sign! I don't know what to tell you about the leg thing. My DH has one leg shorter than the other but his is a hip thing. He broke a tab in his back in 2004. That is when they noticed the difference so they don't really know if it is from that or from something else. Good Luck and let us know how the next appointment goes.
Thank you ~* Helen *~ for the best all about me siggie! You are absolutely fabulous!
