We have our first pedi appt tomorrow morning for Jack. He was born weighing 8lbs 4oz. I know that babies lose weight initally and was wondering when they are suppose to be back at their birth weight? I just weighed him and he was 7lbs 15oz. We are formula feeding, not breastfeeding, not sure if that matters.

Nevermind, we had our doctor appt today and he said he should be back to his birth weight by two weeks. After all I've been thru these last two years I can't help but be apprehensive.

I don't blame you for having it in the back of your mind...or the forefront of your mind!! Anna dipped almost below 5lbs after birth. I can't remember when she passed her birthweight, but I want to say it was somewhere between 2-3 weeks when I started supplementing.

I'm glad your baby is doing well. I don't know anything about birthweight regain. Nichole was 6lbs 12 oz at birth, went down to 6lbs 8oz and on day two before leaving the hospital she was 7lbs. and she was soley breastfed.

Teh only difference between formula nad breastmilk as far as weight gain is formula tends to make babies heavier
