Hi. I'm Stephanne. My son Samuel is 15.5 months. I've been reading some of the other posts and he doesn't have any of the issues some of you are dealing with. I'm just confused by our latest checkup. We just moved so we had to change pediatricians. I adored his old one and I asked once about his growth because he is definately on the smaller side but was told they weren't concerned. Now the new pediatrician seemed very concerned about his weight even though if you look at the growthchart he's started to gain percentiles again. I haven't been concerned because he's developmentally ahead of many kids his age with talking and he started walking at 10 months. He's very, very active but I do have a hard time getting him to eat sometimes and he doesn't eat a lot in one sitting. I'm just worried that the new dr. may want to make it an issue and I'm not sure if I should be more concerned. His height isn't an issue, it's the weight and the spread between height and weight. Here are his growthcharts height and weight:

Any thoughts? Should I be more concerned?

hi welcome!!! Ihtihkn your son looks fine! He dropped percentiles at 6 months, which is completly normal for htem to do. He had one low weight (not even that low) but that could have been a discrepency in scales. Other then that he has followed his curve pretty straight.
As far as eating goes, most toddlers are grazers, it's just the way they are. They are very active so they need bursts of energy (food) to get through.

Personally I think he is fine but I am not a doctor in any sense.

^I agree. When they start walking they seem to eat less since they are so active. He's on the chart which is more than a lot of our kids are doing. IMO, I wouldn't worry too much.

I agree it doesn't look like you have much to worry about if he is healthy otherwise. If he continued to fall across percentiles, I would have some concern, but the last weight looks great to me! He sounds a lot like my daugher in terms of the not wanting to eat anymore, but she fell off the charts all together, which is the reason for the concern. Unless you see another dip that takes him below the 5th percentile or something, I wouldn't even think about it. Maybe add butter to his food, give him the occasional Pediasure to make sure he is getting all the nutrients he should be getting if you feel like it, but I wouldn't worry too much.

Thanks ladies. That's what I was thinking too but she (his new pedi) seemed so concerned and I kind of brushed her off and told her he had gained over 2 lbs. since his 12 month checkup (which was with the old dr.). I was thinking about trying some pediasure since he won't drink anything but water and mommy milk, he refuses whole milk and even juice, but maybe he would take the pediasure. Thanks again for your opinions. It helps to know that I'm not crazy for thinking he's doing just fine!
